This node covers varied interests in complex systems:

• Debra Bernhardt, Lamberto Rondoni, Igor Rychkov and Carlo Paneni: Irreversibility and Nonequilibrium fluids.
• Anthony Roberts: Use of modern dynamical systems theory in conjunction with new computer algebra algorithms, to derive mathematical models of complex systems.
• Geoff Dromey: Software engineering, requirements engineering and the architectural design of complex systems.
• Monika Rhodes: Application of network theory to the understanding and conservation of complex ecological systems.
• Ming Yuchi: Evolutionary algorithms for solving constrained optimization problems.

Researchers are located at Nathan Campus of Griffith University (5); Gold Coast Campus of Griffith University (1) and University of Southern Queensland (1). Lamberto Rondoni is normally at Politecnico di Torino, and visits Nathan Campus of Griffith University regularly.

The node consists of 2 PhD students; 2 Postdoctoral Research Fellows and 4 Academic staff.

The main event in which this node has been involved in was organization of the 1st Australian-Italian Workshop on Statistical Physics: Statistical systems out of equilibrium: random system and complex fluids, held at the Gold Coast in February 2006.
