Mind Games at Kioloa 2008

Moin moin,

I'm working as a research fellow on a project that investigates the use of data mining techniques with the massive data repositories of nuclear fusion experiments. On the global scale "H-1" at the ANU is a small experiment, which has the advantage of excellent diagnostic measurements.

My background is mostly in theoretical/computational plasma physics, where I have worked on simulation tools to model the complex laser-plasma interaction in inertial confinement fusion experiments. I have also worked on kinetic closures for magnetohydrodynamic equations and nonlocal heat transport problems as they occur in hot and dilute plasmas.

Recent COSNet sponsored events have also sparked my interest in agent-based modeling and networks. The latter have a direct relation to my current research as so-called frequent pattern trees are an alternative way to store transaction lists.

I am looking forward to this workshop as an opportunity to engage beyond my previous research.
