Abstract

This seminar is aimed at providing the audience with insight into the use of Artificial Neural Networks for the purpose of macroeconomic forecasting of variables such as Australian GDP growth, AUD/USD Exchange Rate, Australian inflation Rate and other such variables which are essential for policy makers, institutional and private investors.

The seminar will start with an introduction to what Neural Networks are, what they do, how they do what they do, and finally, how and why they are relevant to macroeconomic modelling for forecasting/simulation purposes. The seminar will then give the audience exposure to application of Neural Networks for out of sample forecasting of a selected range of macroeconomic variables. The seminar will be concluded with a brief question and discussion time at the end.
