Postdoctoral Positions in Theoretical Physics (Posted 14/04/2008)

The Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP), Korea and the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG), Germany are seeking outstanding candidates for Postdoctoral Positions in Theoretical Physics

Two Independent Junior Research Groups for Modern field theoretical methods in condensed matter physics (Leader: Prof. Xin Wan) and Multiscale modeling in condensed matter physics (Leader: Prof. Xin Zhou) have been newly set up at APCTP jointly with Max-Planck-Gesellschaft and POSTECH. The JRGs now have a few openings for both short-term and long-term postdoctoral positions.

We are looking for the candidates from physics, chemistry, computer science and related fields. The successful candidates will join two JRGs consisting of postdocs, guest scientists, and students to work as a group on the further development of theories and modeling in condensed matter, biological systems and related fields at APCTP. The candidates for the multiscale modeling group should have good experiences and publications on atomistic or mesoscopic molecular dynamics simulations. Knowledge on the source codes of one of general atomistic simulation software packages and experiences on simulations of biological macromolecules are advantageous but not always required.

The APCTP is located on the campus of Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in Pohang, Korea. The Center has twelve membership countries and is serving their physics communities by organizing schools, workshops, training programs, etc. Strong links exist to the Physics Department of POSTECH. The group members are expected to use also the links to joint research institutes in the Asia Pacific region and some Max Planck institutes to which the APCTP has close relations.

The salary for postdoctoral positions can vary depending on the credentials of candidates. Infrastructure and affordable on-campus housing will be provided.

Please send your CV, publication list, a short description of your research accomplishments and two letters of recommendation to the following address by May 31, 2008.
